My 78 2wd F-250 Short box has dual tanks. I think that around 74 or 75 they went from the rear tank + tank behind the seat combo to the dual under frame set up with two fuel doors in the bed side.

that red one is a long box it has a factory ford topper on it and they only came on the long box

the crews were the only ones that seen the front 60 until 1978 when the F250 got a snowfighter package then in 1979 the F350s got its first 4x4

mid year 1977 is when the Cab tank went aways all together

Hello Trent, How is the misses doing? congrats again!

I guess I should see what month my '77 c/c was manufactured, still has the cab tank, divorced transfer w/ low pinion d60 and disc brakes, does it sound like it is confused or factory??

I hate to tell you Trent but that "Red one" is a short box. It does indeed have a factory canopy on it and it is a short box. The angle may be a bit decieving, but it's a short box.

Sorry I didn't see the pic of the red one but if its got the factory Ford topper and its a shortbed, somebody should grap up that topper because it must have been a prototype.

never made in a shortbed :(
I've been contemplating the idea of making one myself, since its something Ford never did. Gosh thats like a 4door Bronco never made by Ford. 8-) 8-)

I did a convertion of my first crewcab that I built. I started with a 1974 f250 2wd longbed. I mounted a duivorced NP 205 transfercase in the exact middle. By doing this my front and rear drive shaft was interchangeable and I carried one spare at all times. Then I mounted a 78/79 high pinion 60 in the front. I built my own front crossmember with the correct spring mount width. Then I just cot a hole in the frame just like original for the shackle mounts on the rear. It was actually fairly easy. I wish I never would have sold it. My new project is a 1977 F350 4x4 shortbed. It has a front axle like I have never seen before.

Dana 60 low pinion(regular) with disc brakes and open knuckle?
one application only if it is......ok 76 and 77 crewcab f250 4x4s. that is a rare beast 8-)

So what would this axle be worth? Anyone have interest in it?

That's weird. There is a guy here in Moxee that has a 2wd 79 super cab short box that has (or what looks to be ) a factory Ford canopy.

The pics I took are kinda at a funny angle because it's wedged between a fence and a tree that's kinda growing out of control. It's obvious though when you are standing next to it that it's a short box, just like mine. I don't like to argue with anybody. So if you don't believe the red one is a short box that's fine, I'm not gonna lose any sleep over it.

If I get a chance I'll go over there and try to take some better pics.
