Spent the day in a wrecking yard

Post by OrthmannJ »

I need some parts for brownie, and green pea doesn't have what I need. Besides I want them to be as close in color as possible so I don't have to put a bunch of work into making them "look right" to match up the rest of the truck. This is a flip, so I want to do as little as possible to the thing.

I have heard about this one particular wrecking yard for quite some time, and recently someone reminded me about it when I mentioned I was in need of parts for brownie.
They are actually open on Saturday, which is awesome, so the boys and I decided to check it out.

I'm sorry I waited this long.

One of the items on my list was an ashtray. Most of the trucks had no ashtrays, but providence smiled upon me and I found this one sitting on the floor of this gutted Super Cab.

It was sensory overload. After a while seeing a bunch of early 60's Lincoln Continentals stacked like cordwood was not unexpected.
I wanted to get a new, straight tailgate for brownie, as well as passenger side armrest.

Love that place and the owner is a pretty cool guy. Found it totally accident a couple years ago. He actually had a couple early Broncos that I bought out of his yard.

It's so amazing. And you're right, the owner is super cool. I only saw one early Bronco tub when were there. By the way, when are you going to come through next so we can get lunch?

You kind get numb to it after a while. It's like "oh, there's rows of 57 chevies stacked on top of each other."

Man that is cool. Those kinds of wrecking yards are getting fewer and further between. Love wandering around them but always find something I didn't really need but couldn't leave without saving!
