Eye candy - 1971 Crew Cab almost finished

Postby thomastedder » Fri Nov 30, 2012 1:16 pm

I picked this up this summer in Washington State and had it shipped to Arkansas.

It was already in nice shape loaded with goodies so I don't have too far to go.

I got it with new paint, engine, tires, exhaust, brakes, and seat upholstery. Also, this truck has an auto tranny, power disc brakes, and power steering, which is awesome.

Since this summer, I've had the inside painted, had a bed liner sprayed in at a local dealership, added a dash cap (painted to match), put in new carpet, new old school radio, new gauge bezel and plastic, new weatherstripping (supplied by PO), new floor chrome trim, and rebuilt the carburetor.

It starts with the touch of a key and runs strong. I pulled a heavy boat to the lake this summer while loaded with six people in the cab and a lot of gear in the bed with no trouble.

I drive it everyday. I've had some nice cars in my life, but none of them has ever got the attention that this rig does. I was at a gas station filling up the other day and there was a nice older mustang next to me. The gawkers didn't notice the Mustang, though, because they were too busy checking out my Ford.

WOW! Nice truck. I would have been one of those gawkers that didnt even notice the mustang. I sure wish my truck looked that good.

I was wondering what happened to that truck.
It looks like you have finished it of quite nicely. Glad it went to a good home.

I bought that truck from a local guy here before it went to Yakima. It's come a long way since then:

That's cool. Thanks for sharing those pictures. It's fun to learn the history behind a truck.

I bought it from a Mexican guy in Hermiston Oregon in 2009. He had it for about 20 years and his wife used it to go back and forth to town with. It developed an exhaust leak and some other issues and they eventually quit driving it. He had bought it from a farmer he worked for.

I only had it for a couple months before I sold it. I never had plans on keeping it.
