Slick 60's crew info needed

Postby nastystoys » Sun Jan 13, 2013 10:55 pm

A guy i know has a decent looking 66 crew cab for sale and need some info about the slick crews I have a 71 crew and finally got a slick coming. Have a question about the body pillar between the front and rear doors on all the slick crews I have seen there is a strip of pillar that separates the doors about an inch wide the whole way down to the rockers on this crew the pillar seem narrows down and ends around the bottom of the window channel area guy was saying the ones made like this are for rail road an commercial use but from what I understand almost all crew cabs back then were used for navy logging rail road ect. Was the crews that have only half the center pillar strip made in a certain plant or what that makes them different from others I've seen? Any help appreciated

I don't think you will find a whole lot of information about the construction of those crew cabs older than '67. They were hand individually hand built by coach builders and I would guess that there were several companies around the US/Canada that built them. Probably all hand crafted like snowflakes.

There are lots of pictures out there, but they all look the same to me. There is a Hemmings article that even OrthMannJ from here posted on..

I do like the looks of this 2wd one..
