Dipstick?!?!

Postby godspeed » Wed Oct 20, 2010 8:32 pm

This may sound like a stupid question, and I promise I know my way around under the hood, but where in the world is the dipstick on a 390?!?!

Couldn't tell you exactly off the top of my head for a 390. Try side of oil pan, if not there try in front near top of water pump. Not sure of any other place it could be. It's possible that an oil pan w/o dipstick was swapped on, which would be bad.

390 is on the drivers side of the oil pan on 4x4 trucks. It comes out and mounts to the exhaust manafold and is reachable from the drivers side right on the other side of the brake lines if you have power brakes, or just in front of the master if you dont.

I think the two wheel drive oil pan is on the same side aswell.

Its the same on 2x4 also. Right next to the power steering pump on the drivers side (if you have power steering).

BANG! There it is, right behind the PS pump tucked close to the block.

Thanks!
