360 knock

Postby 1973crew » Wed May 11, 2011 8:01 pm

Alright so my 360 is knocking pretty bad and I'm pretty sure it is a bad rod. Is there a way of checking for sure without disassembling the engine? At idle the engine knocks but not very badly but when I take it down the road it doesn't get really bad until i get to about 40-50 Mph. I'm pretty new to this kind of stuff so any information is appreciated.

I would pull the VC's off first and pull the rocker arm shafts and see if you have a broken rod and then check your rocker arm shaft and rockers. The rockers are attached to the shaft so you remove it as a whole. I would not continue to run it till you look at it, you might be doing more damage then you think.
