Introduction

Postby PUalum04 » Thu Apr 19, 2018 8:17 am

Not sure where to post this so if I'm in the wrong forum, please advise!

Been a long time lurker and decided to finally join about a month ago. I used to post on Ford-trucks.com and some of the Power Stroke deisel forums but haven't in several years.

I'm a lifelong resident of the great state of Indiana and have always had a thing for 73-79 Ford trucks, 78-79 Broncos and 92-97 Ford trucks. I'm currently the 2nd owner of a clean, 2001 F250 Crew Cab 4x4 with a 7.3 PSD but have owned (2) 1997 crew cab short bed f250's, one (1) 1997 crew cab long bed F350 and numerous 76-79 Broncos and Trucks. All 4x4 of course! I have never owned a 73-79 crew cab and am currently in the market for one. I keep a close eye on craigslist and ebay but haven't found that perfect truck (for me that is).

I look forward to posting here on a more regular basis. I have alredy learned quite a bit about these trucks (73-79 crews) from the many knowledgeable members on this forum.

Thanks for a great site and for providing a place for Ford Truck junkies like myself to hang out!

Justin

Glad to see that you've joined the growing list of members.

OFCC is a niche, but there are some great resources available here to help us along. This is certainly the best place to find a consolidated list of for sale crew cabs though I think many of us tend to not post the for sale ads of ones we end up buying. We hope that no one else posts them either to boost our chances of ownership. :) Hopefully the right crew comes along for you in the near future.

I know you said in your case that you've not posted on FTE in several years though I'm curious to see whether a bump in membership here will be sustained as there are some folks unhappy with the latest site changes over there.

Welcome to OFCC!

No need for you, or others, to stand there like Hamlet's father. Jump in. All are welcome. You have all types, casual lookieloos, part timers like me, or more dedicated afficianato's like OrthmannJ. Ask a question and you shall receive. I've learned a lot, shared a lot, bought a lot, and even invited some members to my home. Ford people are good people. And from empirical experience, have a higher IQ than Chevy people. ;)

Thanks, all, for the welcome. I have already learned quite a bit about these trucks from this site and appreciate it. Especially about where the trucks are prone to rusting. Definitely have my heart set on a 76-79 F250 4x4 Crew. I am more mechanically inclined and have no experience in body work so finding a rust free truck is important to me.

I have been working on a truck, 1979 F-250 Crew 4x4, in Washington state for a couple weeks now. Happened to stumble across it when inquiring about another truck the individual had for sale. Now I just need to find time to fly out there and inspect it before making an offer.

Thanks again and I will be sure to keep you all posted on my search!

Did the 79 F250 Crew 4x4 in Washington state work out for you or are you still on the hunt?

No, it did not work out. I believe the gentleman sold the truck out from under me or got cold feet. It wasn't for a lack of trying. I think i called once a day for two weeks and never received a return call. He was great about returning calls until i got serious about lining up flights to come look at it.

So, yes, I am still on the hunt...
