Hockey tape !

Postby Rick78efi460 » Mon Mar 09, 2009 7:01 pm

[RANT] I crawled under the rear of the old CC to diagnose a failed RR turn signal/brake lamp. GEEEEEEEEZE some people should be bound and gagged when auto repairs become necessary ! the rear harness was butchered and had a trailer harness stuck in Badly. they were twisted in..and secured with HOCKEY TAPE!!!
some people should keep their hands in their pockets and leave repairs to somebody else ! [/RANT]

At work all the repairs on our stuff is done in house, we do all the work to all the buses we run. I work with 3 other guys that keep the 200 buses on the road and I am out of the habit of seeing anything like this. The guys I work with are all professionals. When I worked in a general repair shop I had customers that would let anyone who would work on a vehicle for free try to fix problems before they would let a pro at it , I saw a lot....I guess I'm just spoiled now, but I still think hockey tape is only one step cheesier than a scotch lock !

Yup, the trucks get butchered! When I disassembled mine I took more than 2 Five Gallon buckets full of wire out of the truck (Extra Crap). Some of it ran across the dash, not hooked up on either end, and looped around stuff to hold it in place instead of putting it in the loom hangers, or zip tying it to something. There were 7 extra wires that ran under the truck...not hooked up ANYWHERE, and each with a couple of splices where they changed color. Prob'lly for a trailer, and after it failed some one else gave it a stab (litterally).

I use these things on my supervisor all the time when he's trying to cut corners on man power or supplies for my crew! :D
