1979 F-250 4x4, North Platte

Postby PUalum04 » Thu Jun 20, 2019 9:05 am

Quite the find if the mileage is accurate and well documented. I'm torn on whether or not the asking price is out of line. This is a plain jane model with some hail damage. However, the overall condition is quite exceptional. Or at least the craigslist photos would lead you to believe it is. What say the experts?

Impressive.

I believe the mileage and it would be easy to verify it through Registration history. The holes in the dash could be fixed by cutting in Factory AC vents. The roof and hood are fairly easy fixes-- especially with Zero rust.

All in all, his asking price isn't crazy. If it had no hail damage I could see it easily being worth that at auction. But with the damage and the few other things that need fixed, I'm thinking low-to-mid 20's. Trucks like this need to go to people that will take care of it and keep it original. Wouldn't want to see it get hacked up.

I like it, it reminds me of my Dad's truck.
I think the price is cuckoo bonkers.
Apparently I am getting old...

I think the price is high, but not terribly so given what the truck is (assuming it's as advertised). There is rust, just not rot. You can clearly see in a couple pics there is surface rust in some pinch welds and seems. Not a big deal, but it's not "absolutely rust free".

The truck needs a bunch of little things but is in SUPER condition. Those survivors need someone to put some work in it and leave it as a good example of driveable history.

I hate seeing good original stuff get cut up. I looked for YEARS to find a good truck that wasn't rotted to earth but wasn't a pristine surviver either when I decided to build my body swapped 77 truck.

I think 10k high....cause that is what it would take for body work and repaint.

I posted a pic of a similar deal truck I found but it is still nearly in full brush truck uniform....I can probably buy it at half the number of this asking price...or less. But it still has the service box which is a draw back for most ppl looking for these trucks.

It too has about 30k original miles and is shedded.

Got any pics? I have been looking for a period correct service body that isn't beat or rusted into scrap metal for some time. The service body may be a good excuse for me to buy another truck

I just logged in to add the eBay link and saw that it has been posted here.

I am anxious to see what the eBay market tells us it's worth.

I doubt anyone will bid, even though the starting bid of $20k is reasonable. Probably have to wait a couple weeks.
