1975 F-250 custom

Post by OrthmannJ »

So, here's Brownie.

IMG_0588.JPG

Brownie is a 1975 2wd F-250 that I got as part of a package deal when I purchased my 1973 F-250 crew cab. You can read more about that here:
http://www.oldfordcrewcabs.com/phpBB3/v ... =15&t=6763

Brownie is a little rough around the edges, but is actually pretty solid.

He is in dire need of a good cleaning and a tune-up. But, he runs, drives, shifts and stops, so that is all good. My plan for Brownie isn't long term ownership.

I am going to polish him up, fix a few things and then put him on the market. I figure I'll be able to recoup the money I paid for all three of the trucks with the sale of this one.
I'm going to take my time though. I think I am going to enjoy the process. :D

It's all about the process! Whoever said, "it's not the destination, it's the journey" knew a lot about life...

I am Mouguluc. Why? Because I can't figure out how to change it.

You're absolutely right. I had a football coach in high school that liked to use the phrase "the goal isn't the end of the road, the goal IS the road."
It applied to the football season of course, but he was teaching us about life too. It's all about the journey, not the destination.

So last night I had about an hour to work on ol Brownie so I decided to start the task of cleaning the interior.

Just a little dirty.

I pulled out the carpet scraps and used the leaf blower to get all of the loose stuff out.

Then I grabbed the shop vac. Mine sounds like an air raid siren and since I live in a residential area, and it was after dark I tried not to run it toooo long.

I have to say, aside from the accumulation of filth the interior is actually in really, really good condition. As I worked I kept expecting to find the "ok, here's the problem" but I never did. I'm really impressed.

I'm going to pull the seat out so I can really get to everything and hopefully a couple of buckets of hot soapy water later the interior of ol Brownie will be shining like new... ish.

Looks like my 73 C/S did when I first drug it home!

Check out that vintage brake controller, that just screams retro right there!

Looks pretty solid so far. If it spent most of it's life in your area it's probably fairly well preserved.

You're right Bullistik, it is very well preserved. It has some bumps and bruises, but all things to be expected for an old farm truck.

I'm ok with a few bumps and bruises. I'm more concerned with not completely rotted and reasonably free from hacking. It's getting harder and harder to find stuff of this vintage that hasn't had the wiring cut up, or someone got carried away with the torch or whizwheel or started swapping mis-matched parts and such.

This thing has none of the above, with the exception of the C.B. wiring which is hanging down from under the dash. Other than that it's a stock, un molested, unmodified honest to goodness old farm truck.

We had a pretty awesome sunset last night. I snapped a photo of it from in front of our house. I decided to go up the hill to get some better photos and Jumped in ol Brownie raced up to the top.
